Eumundi Sculpture Prize 2015
The Foundation for Culture and Arts Eumundi Ltd (The Foundation) has announced the Eumundi Sculpture Prize 2015 is now open with a National Acquisitive Prize of $20,000
Artists both local and national are invited. Entries close at 5pm on 26 June 2015.
This Sculpture Prize follows the successful inaugural competition in 2014.
Photo: The 2014 winning Eumundi Sculpture Prize entitled "Sustainable" by local artists Hew Chee Fong and Loretta Noonan has been added to the Sunshine Coast Public Art Collection.
The theme for 2015 is “The Anzac Spirit: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” as an Anzac Centenary tribute particularly to the 20 Eumundi service men who made the supreme sacrifice, and as a depiction of the Spirit now and envisioning the Anzac spirit of the future.
The sculpture will be installed in Dick Caplick Park not far from the installation site of the 2014 Eumundi Sculpture Prize.
A panel of three highly regarded judges will shortlist eight finalists in early July and the winner will be announced by the panel at a gala function on Friday 21 August, 2015.
This winner then has 10 weeks to create the art work, to be installed in early December with a public event to unveil the winning sculpture on Friday 11 December 2015 as part of this year’s Christmas Night Markets.
The People’s Choice prize winner will also be announced that evening with $500 donated by Glen Elmes, MP, Member for Noosa.
Plans are still in place to have entrance statement sculptures on one or more of Eumundi’s roundabouts for 2016 onwards (not 2015 as previously published).
