The Paving Project @Eumundi Markets lives on
Three years ago Simon Morriss and his family moved to Queensland and created a personalised paver at the Original Eumundi Markets as part of the "Paving Project", which beautifies the market area and creates ever lasting memories for individuals, families, children, and local businesses.
On Saturday, 18th April 2015, the Morriss family returned to the Original Eumundi Markets with their kids (a little more grown up now) and found their family paver.
The Paving Project was a Public Art Project initiated by Eumundi's Michael Ciavarella (fondly known as Civa), an artist and ceramic artist/teacher. He had also created the paving projects at Cooroy (Streetscape) and Woodford Folk Festival (pathways). The Eumundi Paving Project was funded by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
Former Original Eumundi Market Manager Peter Homan said in 2012 “After its completion, we see the community artwork becoming a great reason for people to return to our town and marketplace again – to find their pavers laid in the pathways of Eumundi!
Peter said the project also serves to improve the infrastructure in the market site – being a work of art that is functional (a useful paved zone) as well as decorative.
Have you returned to Eumundi and found your personalised paver?
